On the way from Monterey to San Francisco we stopped at a little town called Half Moon Bay for lunch at a great restaurant called Pasta Moon. It was the best Italian we've ever eaten, huge call I know, but OMG.
But driving from there into San Francisco was amazing. Not just the scenery but that for miles and miles there was traffic banked up, I mean a 3-4 hour wait worth of cars, to get into these pumpkin farms to buy their halloween decorations.
The Americans celebrate it on a huge scale, but it's in the spirit of fun. They have yummy Fall/Autumn flavours of chocolate/coffee/cookies/candy/everything you can think of really!
And the actual Halloween costumes and parties are amazing. When we were in San Francisco so may people visited friends to have a dress up party and eat yummy food. Even at Disneyland the costumes and effort people went to was just awesome.
We thought the poppets would be a bit scared and freaked out by it all, but after the inital unease they have embraced the whole concept and who knows, we may go trick or treating... (or maybe not...)
So these pumpkin farms, complete with police directing traffic, were filled with families taking a day out to choose their pumpkins to decorate their homes for Halloween.
