I am a firm believer in free plat and play-based learning. That is one HUGE reason why we chose not to send Lily to school this year.
Prep used to be play-based, a transition from the home environment to the school one.
That changed this year with the nationalisation of the curriculum.
Now we have 4 year olds at school receiving homework; as if they have not had enough "learning" after 6 hours at school. They need to run, imagine, be who they are, eat, go to bed early after a big day...
So Lily is staying home and many, many of her little friends are struggling. So they have to do extra homework just to keep up.
What sort of a crazy world do we live in where we place ridiculous expectations on our babies?
This is how we learn:
Which would you prefer?????
PS: OK these may not be the best photos to illustrate what we do each day, but we are off and running out the door again to meet up and play with other children, so I don't have time to download new photos....
